Indian Navy Commercial Diving Course 2011
Conducted by Indian Navy at Diving School,Kochi commencing from Jan 31, 2011
(recognized by International Marine Contractor's Association)

Duration : Ten weeks duration prior to which one week of screening will be conducted.

Eligibility : Male Indian citizens more than 18years of age and less than 28 years of age as on Jan 01, 2011 passed class 12 exam secured 50 percent or more in matriculation; fluent in Hindi and in English. Candidates should be a good swimmer with a good physical stamina; medical certificate to be attached.

Focus of the course : The course will be conducted on the lines of HSE (Health and Safety Executives UK) Part I qualification and the course is termed IDS ( Indian Diving Standard) - I. Individuals qualifying the course will be certified to work upto a depth of 50 meters using air diving equipment. The IDS - I course has been recognised by IMCA, an international consultancy agency on all offshore marine and diving activities.

Applications : Refer notification in prominent dailies dated Oct 31, 2010 and around the time for the format of application. Completed applications should reach Officer-in-Charge Diving Schools, INS Venduruthy, Naval Base, Kochi 682 004 by registered post superscribed with the words "Commercial Diving Course"

Selection : Candidates have to qualify aptitude test for diving and physical fitness. The purpose is to assess candidates suitability for diving. Candidates who qualify the aptitude test will undergo screening comprising entry level knowledge test, waterborne activity, diving aptitude and physical proficiency test in swimming and physical fitness. Candidates are advised / cautioned not to undertake unaided breath hold diving for the purpose of preparing of the course.
